Benjamin M. Eiland, MA, CATC, with Alta Mira Recovery Programs (www.altamirarecovery.com), discusses "The Red Road and the Medicine Way"
A lot of time with people in early recovery, finding a higher power is very important to them. Ben Eiland discusses how the native people who are no longer a part of the land are still walking the land as spirits. Ben laid out a spirit bowl and said that if they were at a traditional Native gathering that they would have said prayers for the Native spirits. Ben goes on to discuss his personal growth with a higher power in a more traditional Native American and Buddhist approach because they are connected to the earth and that's where he finds his higher power. With a serious of pulls through open doors, Ben says that he was finally able to accept a higher power and grow.
With 39 years of sobriety, Ben feels that he's able to help people explore where they fit with a higher power by helping them find what's right for them while recovering.
